So, for the February prompt for my One Little Word project, I am supposed to take 9 pictures of things that reflect the word nurture. It hasn’t been an easy process but here is what I have so far:
From the dictionary in my office, where I work with students. For me this picture works on several levels. First, it reflects my word and my love of words and literature. It also pulls in my job because it’s from my office and is a dictionary that I use often with students. And my job nurtures my soul. I love working with students. I love seeing them grow. I love discovering them and watching their own self discovery. It is an amazing gift.
It’s another cat photo, I know. But if you look closely, you’ll see my foot and my husband’s leg. We’re all on the couch, enjoying a lazy Sunday morning. Lazy mornings together nurture my soul!
Art journaling! It’s all about creativity, exploration, play. Learning new techniques (here I played with wax) and my life has been richer for all the things that art has brought into it.
To be continued of course, with my craft space. I have my own little studio for all of my own adventures. Virginia Woolf said that every woman needs a room of her own, and I have one, and I can attest to the fact that it’s GREAT!
Chai tea. It doesn’t have to be Starbucks. In fact, after having been to India, all the commercial versions of Chai just don’t hold a candle to the real thing. But a good Chai tea is like a mini meditation in bliss…
Love. Love. Love. From my husband, for my husband. From family. Brothers, Mothers, Friends, all. My life is full of constant reminders about how loved I really am and how blessed my life has been and is because of it. So Valentine’s day flowers from the person I share my life with and nurtures all of my endeavours and development.
Mindful acts of meditation. I meditate almost every morning and this nurtures me in ways that I cannot even begin to express. I am happier, more thankful, and more whole because of this practice. And by extension, more forgiving, balanced and generous than I’ve ever felt before. Oh sure, I still have a long way to go, but so far, it’s been pretty amazing!
Quotes on my wall that remind me to celebrate life and follow my own bliss.
Family and the memories we create together. And fulfilling a long held goal of seeing things on my “life list/bucket list” of things to do and experience, just cause I’m curious about them.
