scraplifting adventures

So I've been wanting to play a bit more with layering on my scrapbook pages. I always feel like more is just more for me… but I’d like to overcome that feeling.

With that in mind I decided to scraplift this Amy Tangerine page:

Let’s just make this clear: the above image is NOT mine. If you scroll over the image, the blog url will shop up to attribute it to the right person!
The reason why I decided to take from this particular layout was the use of the washi numbers ruler, which I already have in my stash!
Here’s the base page:

As you can see, I’m going with a different colour scheme and not using her products at all. I just wanted to capture a similar theme (love and relationships) and layout template. I didn’t do it on purpose, but my tape ruler starts at 10, which is kind of awesome because that’s the day & month we got married.

In the end, I ended up with a page that was a little loud than I had originally intended (glitter mist... can either make or break a page) but hey, that's ok. I'm learning.I tried to stay too much in the reds and I think the original page does a better job at subtlety, particularly given how much was going on. I thought keeping the palette in the same range would help that, but nope, it did the opposite and actually intensified things! Oh well. Layering is challenging to me, but I'll figure it out eventually.
