pinspiration: card lift

Ok, I saw this on pinterest and just had to try it out for my nephew's birthday. Being the intrepid and free-wheeling adventuress that I am, I winged (wung?) it without checking out the instructions. I figure this is the best way to keep true to my own vision... right? Having just checked them out, I'm glad I didn't go to the site cause I don't have any of the supplies and I would have felt inclined to maybe buy them instead of using my own stuff up!

Ok, for sure the original card looks more polished but I'm giving it to a soon to be 5 year old so I think I'm good with it not being perfect (cause let's face it, he'll like the monster and won't notice much beyond that).

If I did it again, I'd have used smoother paper for the monster (cause the black lines were tricky with all the bumbs that are in the paper grain). But it was a fun card to make.

project life: weeks 13 and 14

Project life time again!

Week 13:

Mostly it was a quiet week. Nothing particularly exciting to report really. I find weeks like this a bit challenging. You know, the ones when you do the same old thing and there isn't that much to write about. I know that these are the times when I should try to write about the little stuff, the every day, but I'll admit that I'm a little at a loss as to how to do that sometimes!

Week 14:

This week was a bit busier with various events. We've spent a lot of time with family in the last week. But there were some time moments in between. Now that Paul has his iPhone, with it's fancy schmancy camera, there are more pictures in the pool to work with. In fact, this week I feel like there are a lot of photos of me that made it into the mix.

Paul, of course, isn't sure about the added responsibility this represents for him because with more photos means more pages, meaning more input from him. So far, this means taking time to whine about his family history recording duties!

Other things of note: I taught my mother in law how to bake pecan tarts and I learned how to do paper quiling. Just what I needed, I know, another paper addict hobby!

The end of the week was all about preparing for Easter. From making chocolate goodies, planning an egg treasure hunt for the nephews, to escaping family for a little bit to shop in a local flea market. Most of the flea market wasn't great but I did discover Konad Nail Stamping kits there. (Don't be scared by the website, some of the images are a bit whoa, but as you can see in the pic above, my nail decor is much more low key). Woo hoo! Colour me happy.

Honestly, it's not often that the whole Casar family (3 brothers and their partners) get together with their parents. So while there's a lot of pictures in this week, I wanted to use a bunch of them in order to really capture the moment.

Last but not least:

Next week: work, work, work....

april challenge

#photoadayApril

I like projects. Can you tell?

I've done scrapbooking ones, art journaling ones, and list making ones. Next up: photo love!

Stay posted! I probably won't do every day cause well, who am I kidding... I don't know that I have the time or the focus for that...

But here's my phot for day 2. Colour:

Let's face it, colour is easy for me given my electric green walls! But that said, I think Paul and I have finally honed in on our wall colours for our new digs and the palette is surprisingly neutral: white, grey, yellow, blues so far... Who knew?

Fret not... there will be colour in the mix, just done a little differently than my usual approach. This time I'm going for pops of colour instead of all over colour. Très tendance et chic, that's me!
