One Little Word: January Intentions

As I mentioned before, I'm back on the one little word for the year project with the word story. I'm taking a class over at Big Picture Classes with Ali Edwards (for those of you reading this who know nothing about scrapbooking, she's kind of a big name in the scrapbooking world - but don't worry, I didn't expect you to know that).

Anyways, back on subject... focus Marya, focus. (Good thing that wasn't my word.. I'd be failing miserably if it was). Or can I blame that on pregnancy brain/hormones? As I told my sort of sister-in-law (girlfriend, not married, but it's the same thing in the end after long enough, isn't it?) Silvie, I'm going to blame everything and anything on hormones from here on in. So this random sidetracked ramble: hormones.

Ok... back to the story I wanted to share!

So, in this class we do pages every month that focus on our intention for the year. This month's page was to create cards using our word that also set intentions to work on throughout the year (or in a specific month). Now that I'm out in the open about the baby (aka plum this week, next week it'll be peach), I can actually share what I did.

I set them as numbers instead of months (like the prompt had us do) because really, who knows what each month will hold, I may need to switch things up. Some are pretty set for a specific month, but others are loosey goosey. Some intentions I kept purposely simple because, well, it's going to be a rough year I'm sure!

So the goals for 2013 are:

1. Celebrate your story
2. Do something outside my comfort zone
3. Take more photos and blog more
4. Celebrate 7 years together
5. Go out and do something different in Montreal (comedy, theatre, etc)
6. Make something for the baby
7. Finish as much baby prep as possible
8. Be kind to yourself cause you're huge and preggers
9. Try to be as zen as you can about the lack of sleep and how hard the new baby is
10. Leave baby and go on a date
11. New adventure (cause life post baby doesn't end)
12. Have a great first Christmas

Paper Lust: Project Life Midnight

I'm in love. With paper. Specifically this paper:

You might not be seeing it from this particular image, but let me help you out a bit more... Picture it as part of a kit for my next Project Life album

Wait there's more:

Yup, having just finished my 2012 album a couple weeks ago, just started my 2013 album last week, I'm already dreaming of my 2014 album. It's going to be so clean, crisp and my pictures are going to pop baby, pop!

Yeah, I know... I'm a paper geek!

Gasp... you're Canadian and you don't know where the Atlantic ocean is?

So for those of you who are facebook friends, I bet you thought that my first blog post, post reveal, would be all about baby, but no.

Image from Microsoft Office Files
Today I want to rant, or express jaw dropping amazement over the ignorance of Canadian university students. A recent CBC article spoke about how Memorial university students listed the Atlantic ocean as the Mediterranean sea and placed Asia in Africa. Honestly, I'm gobstopped. How are these mistakes even possible?

I mean, if someone were asking you where Eritrea is, ok... I get not knowing that. Or maybe you'd be able to place Tehran in the Middle East, but not exactly pinpoint. But to not know where Spain was, even though you've visited it? Come on people?!

If our university students are so ignorant that they can't locate the Atlantic ocean on a map when they live right next to it, I think we're in for some major international relations problems!

I'm just saying!

holiday crafting recap

Now that the holidays are over, I can share some of the goodies that I created this year.

A calender for my brother and sister-in-law (I used a design template from Paislee Press):

This is what I do with people's facebook photo collections! Muahahaha! Little did you know that your facebook photos were subject to my crafty pillaging!

Mugs:

Everyone got a personalized themed mug with chocolate and hot chocolate.

Star Garland:

Our dining room is really white so I wanted to add a pop of festive colour. Part of me is tempted to leave them year long, but then again what would I do next year if these were a regular thing? Got to keep things special!

Also, I baked. So much! I actually have leftovers... oops! I think this might mean that I've been living amongst the Slovenian community too long.... I bake for armies now. Anyone interested in some holiday goodies?
