joys of motherhood: shit they don't tell you beforehand

Watching your baby suffer from his first stomach flu is brutal. Like gut wrenching brutal.

We're all slowly starting to feel better!

Watching any child go through the stomach flu is rough, but when it's yours and you're the one trying to make the call when enough is enough and you're crossing into an emergency situation, is one of the most nerve racking experiences I've gone through. Maybe not the most nerve racking, but it's up there.

The joy of it of course, is that this is only the beginning of many more of these adventures to come.

And then, to top it off, when you and your husband get sick on top of baby. Or even worse, the piles and piles of laundry you have to do because baby has puked on everything. Suffice to say, it's been an adventure. Not a good adventure, but an adventure nonetheless.

Thank god for grandmothers who are willing to come over and help by rocking your baby to sleep while you sleep through your own nausea.

Here's to hoping that it'll be a long time before my little man gets sick again!
